Girls Only Weekend in Baler – 1st Philippine Wahine Classic Success

So the 1st ever Stoked Inc – Philippine Wahine Classic Presented by our locally-adopted-Californian-surfer-girl Carla Rowland and ‘The Surf Institute’ was a huge success.

The vibe was too good to be true from start to finish. Our iconic Aliya Surf Camp was a delight to wake up to, as you had your breakfast, lunch and dinner with all the familiar sun-kissed faces, with not a frown in site.

200 beauties got in the water, 100 girls learned to surf with Go SurPH (Surfing Philippines’ advocacy to get people surfing through free surf lessons) and of course we had 4 divisions of Wahines (Hawaiian for Surf Girl) competing for 2 sweetly hand crafted Surf Boards from the big man, with the big lense Ian Zamora.

La Union’s Daisy Valdez emerged as Champ in both the Wahine Long and Short Board Open Divisions – and to the envy of both men and women alike went home with the 2 beauties from Zamora Custom Boards.

A special shout out to Surfista Travels’ Elaine Abonal for her handy work on the mic, keeping us entertained and the mood light, and to the man who walks as much as he talks (a lot),¬†Joncy Sumulong, who did so much behind the scenes to help make the event run smoothly.

Congrats to all the competitors and to all the new surfers with us at Go SurPH – welcome to the surf family :) Hope to see you guys again soon.
